| New Calves and Old Friends
|
The long cold nights of winter
give way to warming sun.
The snow's replaced by new green grass
And streams begin to run.
The geese are moving North again,
Their music's in the air,
As gentle breezes wash the land
And days are long and fair.
It's the season for renewal,
For friendships and for life.
A time for beauty and for birth,
A respite from the strife.
And down below the Big Belts,
Along the valley floor,
It's time to ride and check the cows,
It's calving time once more.
This riding isn't hard and fast,
Most times it's at a walk;
A time to ride with an old friend,
Just reminisce and talk.
It's springtime at the Round Grove Ranch,
The circle never ends;
It brings together lots of things,
Like new calves and old friends.
